Cherry Grove Fall Mini-Messier Marathon Star Party
Similar to the Messier Marathon in the spring, the ”Mini Messier (4M)”, is an attempt to find as many Messier objects as possible during one night. The Messier catalogue was compiled by French astronomer Charles Messier during the late 18th century and consists of 110 relatively bright deep sky objects (galaxies, nebulae, and star clusters).
Additional information and finder charts can be found on the MAS website at http://www.mnastro.org/mini-messier-marathon/
The event is cancelled if cloudy with Friday being the primary date with Saturday the alternate.
Star parties are no longer called “on” or “off”. Those planning on attending are to make their best judgement as to sky conditions and whether to attend or not. Generally however, star parties are cancelled if cloudy.
Be sure to check the MAS Discussion Forums if conditions are questionable to see if others are planning on attending.
