The presentation by Sam Potter has been cancelled. Avery Garon from the U of M will talk about the CubeSat he created for observations of the Sun in x-rays.
Due to the cancellation of the February meeting we will be holding the annual MAS Business Meeting along with the normal monthly agenda.
The Business Meeting will include the following:
1. Review and approval of the 2019 budget
2. Volunteer Positions to be filled:
a. Monthly Program Director – Lauren Nelson is retiring from this position.
b. Person to complete and submit the Minnesota Common Grant Application Form for nonprofits
c. Committee (5 members) for updating the MAS Constitution.
3. Background on updating the MAS Constitution and forum post.
4. Open floor for membership comments and suggestions for the Board to consider this year.
Time permitting we will be showing member images and video of the January Lunar Eclipse.
Monthly meetings are open to all – you needn’t be an MAS member to attend. These meetings normally take place the first Thursday of each month at the Fairview Community Center in Roseville (“Great Room”). Monthly meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and last about two hours.
Each meeting features Board member introductions, general announcements, “Better Know a Constellation”, normally presented by a member, main speaker (around 45 minutes duration) and an after-meeting social gathering. Society business is occasionally transacted as needed.
NOTE: Meeting time and / or location sometimes change to take advantage of special program opportunities. Please check the MAS homepage at www.mnastro.org for the latest information regarding the meeting.
