Cherry Grove Virgo Venture Star Party

The MAS ”Virgo Venture” is an star party dedicated to observing many of the brighter galaxies in the Virgo Cluster. As with all Cherry Grove events, the Virgo Venture is held only if the skies are clear and will be CANCELLED IF CLOUDY.

Additional information and finder charts can be found on the MAS website at HERE

Cherry Grove Star Parties are held on Friday nights, with Saturday reserved as the backup night if Friday is cloudy.

Star parties are no longer called “on” or “off”. Those planning on attending are to make their best judgement as to sky conditions and whether to attend or not. Generally however, star parties are cancelled if cloudy.

Be sure to check the MAS Discussion Forums if conditions are questionable to see if others are planning on attending.

LLCC  Star Party

The agreement between LLCC and the Minnesota Astronomical Society allows MAS members (and their immediate family members) to use LLCC facilities and grounds for astronomical observing on scheduled weekends.

With the exception of the Northern Nights StarFest, held in August, events held at LLCC are not open to the public. Only MAS members and their immediate family members are authorized to attend scheduled events.

For additional information concerning the use of LLCC, visit the MAS website at

Unlike typical MAS star parties, LLCC star parties may be called ”on” for both Friday and Saturday evenings, weather permitting.

Begins at DUSK.    Cancelled if cloudy
