Monthly Meeting (CANCELLED) @ Fairview Community Center
Apr 2 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Event CANCELLED

Speaker: Nancy Atkinson

Topic:  Eight Years to the Moon: The History of the Apollo Missions

Nancy Atkinson tells the unique personal stories of over 60 engineers and scientists who worked behind the scenes to make the Apollo program possible. The eight years from President Kennedy’s challenge in 1961 to the first Moon landing in 1969 are filled with stories of the dedication and perseverance it took to overcome the challenges, hurdles and conflicts of doing things that had never been done before. The stories are fun, heart-warming and heart-breaking and they provide a glimpse into the lives of some of the hundreds of thousands of people who made it possible to land humans on the Moon.

NOTE: Nancy will have a table set up at 6:30 and have her books, “Eight Years to the Moon” and “Incredible Stories from Space”, available for sale and autographed before the meeting.

Monthly meetings are open to all – you needn’t be an MAS member to attend. These meetings normally take place the first Thursday of each month at the Fairview Community Center in Roseville (“Great Room”). Monthly meetings start at 7:00 p.m. and last about two hours.

Each meeting features Board member introductions, general announcements, “Better Know a Constellation”, normally presented by a member, main speaker (around 45 minutes duration) and an after-meeting social gathering. Society business is occasionally transacted as needed.

NOTE: Meeting time and / or location sometimes change to take advantage of special program opportunities. Please check the MAS homepage at www.mnastro.org for the latest information regarding the meeting.
