[edit] Starting

  1. Apply power to the the mount by first turning on the power strip located on the floor.
  2. Next, turn on the mount using the rocker switch on the back of the right ascension housing.
  3. Wait for two beeps, several seconds apart, indicating the mount has completed its initialization.
  4. Press the button on top of the mount's joystick twice to move the telescope to its 'home' position.
  5. Wait until both the right ascension and declination axes have stopped moving, indicated by three short beeps as each axle stops.

[edit] Using

[edit] Manual operation

Note: The mount must be 'homed' as described above before the joystick can be used for manual operation.

Use the mount's joystick to move the telescope in right ascension and declination.

The speed of the mount's movement is propotional to degree to which the joystick is moved in both the x-axis and y-axis.

[edit] Automated operation

Software Bisque's TheSky6 software is used to automate the mount. Please refer to TheSky6 Astronomy Software for details.

[edit] Shutting down

[edit] Parking the mount (manual)

  1. Use the joystick to position the mount with its counterweights vertically, pointing downward, and the telescopes oriented horizontally, pointing to the northeast.

[edit] Parking the mount (automated)

Please refer to TheSky6 Astronomy Software for the parking process.

[edit] Troubleshooting

[edit] Problem: The joystick isn't working

The telescope must be 'homed' before the joystick will operate. See above for details.

[edit] Problem: The telescope suddenly moved to its home position

The user may have accidently pressed the button on top of the joystick. Be careful to avoid contact with the button, except when intentionally homing the mount.
