SUMMARY:BSIG Winter Zoom Presentation - Globular Clusters: Why They Are So Cool!
DESCRIPTION: The MAS invites everyone to the virtual Beginner’s Group Presentation using ZOOM.. \nFeatured Speaker:   Claire WeaverlingTopic: Globular Clusters: Why They Are So Cool! \nSynopsis:  December isn’t exactly globular season. Yet winter is the perfect time to plan ahead on your observing projects. Hunting globulars can be a challenging but satisfying experience\, with plenty of targets for beginners. If you imagine all globular clusters look alike – think again. There is visual variety to be found. And scientific surveys of globular clusters have revealed fascinating insights into the history and composition of these gems of our night sky! \nClaire is one of the most prolific visual observers in the MAS. She started with the Cedar Rapids Astronomy Club many years ago\, a club her father co-founded. These days you can usually find her at Cherry Grove Observatory with her 18″ Dobsonian telescope\, working diligently on an Astronomical League observing program. Previously\, she conducted an excellent presentation for our Beginner Group on Winter Constellations.  You can find a link to that talk here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7Kd6o06txM\nVisit the B-SIG Discussion Forum for more information and any last minute changes. \nThis meeting will be held online using Zoom. If you would like to join us you will need use the following URL: \nhttps://us06web.zoom.us/j/87906093973?pwd=Nx91yBD4uXluqfeM5Cw4oOmsEbYbH4.1 \n\nMeeting ID:        879 0609 3973Passcode:            575343 \nWe will open up this link about 10 minutes before the event starts. \n\nYou can probably hear best with a headset but your computer’s speaker and microphone will also work. \nDial-in Phone Number \n+1 312 626 6799 US (Chicago) \nIn order to ensure the most success we are asking everyone to follow a couple of rules: \n1. Don’t turn on your camera – it sucks up bandwidth and we really don’t need to see you.2. Keep your microphone muted until you are prompted during a question and answer session during the presentation. This will cut down background noise substantially.3. You can request to ask a question in the chat area in Zoom and wait to be prompted by the moderator. \nWe hope you can join us.Clear skies! \nSuresh SreenivasanMAS Beginner’s Coordinator
