His talk is about his 11-day experience in December visiting and staying at three major US-owned observatories in Chile: Cerro Pachón (home of the Gemini South telescope)\, Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO)\, and the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) radio telescope. While at these facilities\, Dave and the other ACEAP Ambassadors received extensive training about the instruments\, the science\, data products\, and communicating science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics (STEM) concepts. DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED\nBSIG Beginner’s Special Interest Group Observing Session\nMAS Metcalf Observing Field \nUnfortunately\, the weather forecasts have not improved for either tonight or Saturday night. \nSo we’re going to cancel this month’s MAS Beginner Group observing event.  \nWhile Saturday night looks like rain\, tonight was more borderline. It looks like clouds will start to increase right around sunset\, and that we may be clouded out completely by around 11pm. DESCRIPTION:Please join us for this special celestial event – Total Lunar Eclipse. \nDetails for Sun. May 15th Total Lunar Eclipse: \n\n \nMoonrise is at 8:23pm CT (declination -19°36′ / azimuth 117°39′)\nPenumbral Eclipse Begins:  8:32pm CT\nPartial Phase Begins:          9:28pm\nTotal Phase Begins:           10:29pm\nMax. Eclipse:                      11:11pm\nTotal Phase Ends:              11:54pm\nPartial Phase Ends:           12:55am\nPenumbral Phase Ends:      1:50am  \n \nThis is about as good timing as we can have for a lunar eclipse prior to a workday!!\n \nFor more information about the eclipse\, see here:  https://www.space.com/total-lunar-eclipse-blood-moon-coming-may-2022\n \nEveryone is invited\, there is no charge to attend and kids are welcome!  Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Also\, bring a few extra clothing layers in case temps dip at night.
