SUMMARY:Messier Marathon
DESCRIPTION:MESSIER MARATHON\nA Messier Marathon is an attempt to find as many Messier objects as possible during one night. The Messier catalogue was compiled by French astronomer Charles Messier during the late 18th century and consists of 110 relatively bright deep sky objects (galaxies\, nebulae\, and star clusters). \nThe first MAS Messier Marathon was held on March 13\, 1999 (Apr Gemini\, pg 4)\, and has been held annually at the Cherry Grove Observatory. The marathon is scheduled for the new moon weekend nearest the spring equinox with Friday being the primary night\, and Saturday being the backup night. \nAs with all Cherry Grove events\, the marathon is held only if the skies are clear and will be CANCELLED IF CLOUDY. See the MAS home page or Forum for the latest information regarding the star party status.

SUMMARY:Public Star Party at Eagle Lake Observatory
DESCRIPTION:Public Star Party at the MAS Eagle Lake Observatory. \nThe Eagle Lake Observatory consists of the Onan Observatory\, the Sylvia A. Casby Observatory and the HotSpot Classroom. \nPublic nights at Eagle Lake are held about every other Saturday night from March till November. Annually\, we also host all day events for Astronomy Day\, Fall Astronomy Day and our annual Camping with the Stars event. Additionally\, we may schedule a “special event” throughout the year for a rare astronomical event such as an eclipse\, conjunction\, transit or meteor shower. \nPublic star parties are open to all\, but please review the Star Party Guidelines if you have not been to a public event before. \nAdditional information as well as directions can be found on the Eagle Lake Observatory web page. \nEagle Lake Observatory44.8103 -93.9397 \nMerle Hiltner onaninfo@mnastro.org \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n\n \n\n\n\n Fill in this form to make an inquiry about our Public Star Parties at ELO. \n\n\n\n Your name (required):\n \n\n Your email (required):\n \n\n Your phone:\n \n\n ELO Event date (required): \n\n Let us know if you have any questions or how we could help you!
