February MAS Monthly Meeting – Budget Vote – Featured Speaker: Bernie Stinger

February 5 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm CST

The MAS will be hosting a hybrid in-person & ZOOM Monthly Meeting.  MAS meetings are free and open to the public. JOIN US!

This will be a MAS Business meeting and we will be reviewing and voting on the 2026 Budget. A 10% Quorum of total members (or a minimum 50 members) is required.

Registration will be required in advance if participating on Zoom. After registering with your name and email address, you will be emailed the Zoom link to join the meeting. Non MAS members will also need to register to participate in the meeting, but will not be allowed to vote.

The proposed budget will be made available to MAS members in advance on Slack:  Channel #2026-mas-budget-preview

Members can comment and ask questions. Members who are not part of the Slack community can join by sending an email to slack@mnastro.org. Copies of the budget can also be requested via email to president@mnastro.org.

Featured Speaker: Bernie Stinger

Topic: What ever happened to that older LX200 16” Scope that was out at ELO?

Synopsis: Back in 2023 the older LX200 16″ went for a journey cross country to it’s new home. What ever happened to it? Did it just end up in another garage?
A description of the Tucson Astronomy Club follows with photos of our club sites.
 
Bio: Born, raised, & educated in Minneapolis. I spent 4 years in the Army Security Agency during the Vietnam War and later returned to Minneapolis to work for an electronics firm in Bloomington for 40 years doing field service, customer service, system design, and sales management. Upon retirement moved to Tucson Arizona a few years back and found TAAA. Currently the Star Party Manager for the Tucson Amateur Astronomy Association.

You can probably hear best with a headset but your computer’s speaker and microphone will also work.

In order to ensure the most success we are asking everyone to follow a couple of rules:

  • Don’t turn on your camera – it sucks up bandwidth and we really don’t need to see you.
  • Keep your microphone muted until you are prompted during a question and answer session during the presentation. This will cut down background noise substantially.
  • You can request to ask a question in the chat area of the Meet and wait to be prompted by the moderator.
