Northern Nights Star Fest – August 16-20, 2023

Northern Nights Star Fest will be held at long Lake Conservation Center August 16-21, 2023.

The LLCC Committee is working hard to put together a great event.

Registration is closed.

Wednesday August 16, 2023

3:00 pm:  Check in at NorthStar Lodge when you arrive
5:30 pm:  Dinner in dining hall
7:00 pm:  If cloudy we will watch online lectures or movie in the lecture hall
Rest of Evening:  Observe. (No white light!)
12:00 am:  Midnight Snack in dining hall
The 30”and 25” scopes will be available for use.

 Thursday August 17, 2023

11:30 am:  Brunch in dining hall
1:00 pm: Swap Meet at Lecture Hall (Bring your stuff to sell)
1:00pm: Lecture – Dick Jacobsen  – “Living With A Giant Telescope”
2:00pm: Lecture – Ken Hugill – “Sun Gun”
3:30 pm:
  LLCC Keyholder training.  (Part 1) Video in lecture hall
3:30 pm:  Solar Observing (Get out your solar scopes to share)
5:30 pm:  Dinner in dining hall
Rest of Evening: Observe
12:00 am:  Midnight Snack in dining hall

Friday August 18, 2023

Turn in your observing logs for Observing Certificate
2:30 pm: Lecture – Ahmed Reda – “Stellar Evolution”
4:00 pm:  LLCC Keyholder training. (Part 2) Meet at Observatory
4:00 pm:  Solar Observing (Get out your solar scopes to share)
5:30 pm:  Dinner in dining hall
7:00 pm:  Welcome Message – Door prize give-away – Must be present to win.
8:30 pm: If cloudy – bonfire or movie

3:30 pm: Guided Naturalist Activities.  Meet at Lecture Hall
5:30 pm:  Dinner in dining hall
 7:00 pm: Featured Speaker: Bob King “Aurora”
8:30 pm: If cloudy – bonfire or movie

Sunday August 20, 2022

1:00 pm: Open floor to show your astrophotography
5:30 pm:  Dinner in dining hall

Monday August 21, 2023

1:00 pm:  Checkout (sweep your room, pick up garbage)
Leave no trace.  Pick up your swap-meet stuff
