Public Star Party

Eagle Lake Observatory

August 10th    7 PM to 10 PM CDT

Join us to show the public the wonders of the night sky

Guest speaker: Laura Hammerbeck, NASA Solar System Ambassador
Title: Two Years of Webb

Summary: The James Webb Space Telescope has been in operation for 2 years, thrilling us with stunning images and breakthrough astronomy.   Learn how JWST’s groundbreaking technologies have shaped our understanding of the universe, and take a look back through time to the earliest light we have detected (so far).  See which galaxy holds the title for “most distant”, a record that has been broken many times already by Webb’s observations, and is sure to be broken again as Webb continues to explore our universe.

ELO Keyholders can signup for this event here. Note: you must be a keyholder to access this forum..

August 10th & August 17th ELO Training Information

An Eagle Lake Observatory keyholder training will be held on August 10th in the afternoon and August 17th in the evening.  It is not necessary to attend both weekends depending on the equipment you choose.

Training consists of orientation, building operation, telescope operation, and public star party preparation.  Since there is a lot of material it is suggested that you only sign up for a couple of telescopes.  Get familiar with those then be trained on other telescopes at later training sessions.

Sign up for training at https://www.mnastro.org/facilities/eagle-lake/elo_keyholder_training/

The class will be limited to 15 people.

ELO General Training Information

Training is divided into 8 modules, one of which is required. Select the modules for your training and click Submit Request at the bottom.  You will be contacted at a later date with more information.
