Happenings this Week

ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET, SKY NERDS — THE TAURID SWARM HAS ARRIVED!
Earth has been plowing directly into the legendary debris stream of Comet Encke — delivering SLOW-MOTION FIREBALLS blazing across the heavens at MAXIMUM DRAMATIC IMPACT!!AND TONIGHT…
THIS ONE NIGHT…
THE PINNACLE ARRIVES!

Be there to witness the spectacle! The drama! The sky-based pyrotechnics nature didn’t bother getting a permit for!!

…okay, fine. It’s actually one of the more minor meteor showers of the year. But “Taurid Swarm” sounds way cooler, so we’re going with it. (While the per hour rate for the Taurids is low, the fireball potential is real.)

Cherry Grove Observatory (CGO)
Member Star Party

Friday, November 14
7:00 – 11:30 PM CT

Join us at CGO for a Star Party!  Bring your telescope or use one on-site, including the Starmaster Dobsonian, LX-200, or other scopes!

Star parties are cancelled if cloudy, so watch here or on the CGO Forum.

Cherry Grove Star Parties are held on Friday nights with Saturday night backups if cloudy. Official dates are listed on the calendar and are usually the first or second weekend of the month. Others are non-official Instant Star Parties (ISP’s) listed by individual members on the forums or Slack.
