Also please review the MAS Star Party Guidelines.

Unless otherwise noted, all Eagle Lake Observatory public star parties are “all weather” events. Even if it is cloudy, someone will be there to show a video, give a presentation, give a tour of the observatory or answer any astronomy questions you may have. However, there may be a need to cancel due to hazardous weather conditions such as severe thunderstorm, tornados and/or snow storms. If any of these conditions are threatening, please check the MAS website homepage at www.mnastro.org, after 4:00 pm the day of the event for cancellation notices.

2019 Special Event – Transit of Mercury @ Eagle Lake Observatory
Nov 11 @ 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
2019 Special Event - Transit of Mercury @ Eagle Lake Observatory | Norwood Young America | Minnesota | United States

On Monday November 11th, 2019 we will be having a special event for viewing the transit of Mercury across the Sun.  The observatory opens at 8:00 am with the transit beginning before sunrise.  By 8:00 am the sun should have risen enough for viewing to begin.  There will be plenty of time to view the transit as Mercury makes its way across the sun.  The transit ends at 1:39 pm.

This star party is a ”Cancelled if Cloudy” event. Be sure to check the MAS home page and/or the MAS Discussion Forums for the latest updates if the sky looks questionable for viewing.

The next Mercury transit visible from Minnesota will not be until May 2049
